Construction of Teletechnical Ducts to Atman Data Center WAW-3 Begins
In August, we signed a contract for the construction of 2 teletechnical ducts for Atman DC WAW-3. Connecting the new campus to the world is the next stage of our latest data center investment.
Construction of the first of three buildings that will eventually form the DC WAW-3 campus in Duchnice, near Ozarow Mazowiecki, is proceeding on schedule. The construction phase is set to be completed by the end of 2024. At the same time, we are working to ensure adequate power capacity and efficient telecommunications connectivity – key elements of a new data center infrastructure.
The construction of two teletechnical ducts has just begun, leading from WAW-3 to two active telecom points in the vicinity of the campus. One of these points is located in Ozarow, on Poznanska Street, and the other – on the edge of the A2 highway. The ducts will be used to bring fiber optic cables to WAW-3.
Atman will use 144J optical fibers to ensure low attenuation. Links between WAW-3 and WAW-1 (Praga-Poludnie), WAW-2 (Mokotow) and LIM (Srodmiescie) will follow the shortest routes to secure low latency. WAW-3 will become part of Atman’s state-of-the-art DWDM network connecting all major data centers in the Warsaw metropolitan area.
At the same time, the WAW-3 campus, like our other data centers, will be carrier neutral. Operators interested in providing Internet access services to companies colocating servers in our new data center will also run their cables through the constructed teletechnical ducts. A single duct will have space for up to 40 fiber optic cables.
Atman Data Center WAW-3 is designed to serve AI (artificial intelligence) technology companies and hyperscalers, among others. In the future, with construction of all 3 buildings with a total net floor space of nearly 19,000 square meters and 43 MW of IT power, the WAW-3 campus will be able to house more than 50,000 servers.
