New processors in Atman dedicated servers
We are constantly analyzing the server hardware market for solutions that would meet the needs of our customers even better than today. This time we focused on two applications: virtualization and databases.
In the case of server virtualization or building more advanced private cloud environments, the processors available in Atman, in most cases, met the customers’ expectations, in particular when we extended the standard Intel Xeon offer with models with 12 and more cores. However, in specific VMware applications, due to licensing, it was more profitable to use processors from the AMD range.
In the second case, i.e. the selection of a CPU for databases, for a long time a server processor with a high clock speed (and not necessarily with a large number of cores) at a reasonable price was missing on the market. For this reason, we have kept Intel Xeon E5-1650v4 processors, which premiered in Q2 2016, in our portfolio for quite a long time. At the end of last year, there was finally a light in the tunnel in line E of Intel server processors.
After completing internal tests, preceded by market research, we are pleased to present two new processors that can already be ordered in Atman’s dedicated servers:
Both processors are already available in both standard and customized configurations. The AMD processor appeared in a new configuration in the Enterprise line, and the E-2286G replaced the worn-out E5-1650v4 CPU in two Business line products.
Below we present the specifications for both processors.
